When I first witness the "Lip Sync Battle" on Jimmy Fallon's "Tonight Show", I thought it was brilliant. It was the most creative thing being done in television, in years. Having celebrities come on the show, lip-sync songs and see them actually enjoying the game and battle against Fallon, was great to see. It's fun for the viewers at home and for the guest celebrity. It felt like a karaoke bar.
But now it's ruined. Why? Because they had to ruin it -- like they do with all good things. Now the Lip Sync has been removed from Fallon's Tonight Show and made into a show on another channel. And if I'm Jimmy Fallon, I'm pissed.
The "Lip Sync Battle" should be on the Tonight Show, only! Why in the hell would they take something like this, that's so unique, that's so much better than what anyone else has late at that time and remove it... That's like Jay Leno making "Jaywalking" into a separate show. Or like David Letterman making his top-ten list segment into a show and removing it from his show. You don't do that.
Now they have the 'Lip Sync Battle' show on some other channel; that I don't know of, because I don't care to watch it. Sucks for Fallon since he loses a big part of the Tonight Show. If you liked the Lip Sync Battle, you had to watch the "Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon" to see it. Not anymore.
The other games he does with the guests are okay... But Fallon had really something special with the Lip Sync Battle. It had a very old fashion, hollywood television look to it. It looked like something you'd see back in the 1950s and 60s; it had mystique.
But now...it's ruined.
I don't know if Fallon was okay with this, or he wasn't and didn't have say. But something tells me he didn't have the power to say: 'no, this should be strictly on my show, only'. Fallon's too smart to let something like this be removed from his show. Not fair to him. He has to be pissed at this.
And if he was 100% okay with letting this part of the show go and it was totally up to him, then he's not smart after all.
I've seen highlights of the new Lip Sync Battle and it looks ridiculously stupid. Also, I hate to see a hip-hop legend like LL Cool J, host a stupid show like this. I'm so sick and tired of the way this country treats our great hip-hop artists.
If I'm Fallon, I'm fighting to get the show cancelled and get it back to the Tonight Show. The producers need to do something that's good for the culture, for once. My god! And don't tell me the celebrities who do it - like it, because they have a look on their faces as to say: 'What the fuck am I doing, I need to get the fuck out of here.'
