Jerry O'Connell Must Be Kelly Ripa's Co-Host

No, not Michael Strahan and not Josh Groban ... Jerry O'Connell should be the permanent co-host for "Live ! With Kelly".

When I saw O'Connell co-host with Kelly Ripa -- and this was before Regis Philbin retired -- I said, this guy should be the one who takes over after Regis.

When I heard Strahan, Groban and Seth Meyers (which I wouldn't mind Meyers) I said, why the hell is O'Connell not mentioned ?

I was shocked he wasn't a candidate from the very beginning. He's got the charisma; the looks; he's funny and upbeat. Something the viewers need in the morning, and it's also something Regis had all those years.

Regis made it successful because he was this loud, upbeat, funny guy at 9:00 AM. Most shows around nine in the morning are newscasters who have to speak low and professional. While everyone was boring in the morning, Regis was exciting.

O'Connell is -- almost -- like a young, upcoming Regis.

He's from New York and I think he's a Yankee fan...I'm not sure. And if he is, that scores him big in my view. Because if the Yankees have a big win or if they're in the postseason, he can talk about it in the mornings. When the Yankees had a big win, I always wanted to see what Regis would say about it.

O'Connell is all-around entertaining. He is the man for this job.

Seth Meyers: I wouldn't mind Meyers; I like Meyers more than Strahan and Groban and if O'Connell doesn't get it, Meyers would be my second choice. He's smart, somewhat funny, and he's a Saturday Night Live writer/cast member.

Michael Strahan: I don't think Groban is getting the job, but Strahan might. And if they pick him because he's a former New York Giant, they're doing it for the wrong reasons. I can't see him getting big ratings because he's a former Giant. Also I don't find him entertaining.

Strahan doesn't match with that job. He's good to co-host it once every two years. Not everyday.

O'Connell is the guy. If he's not, this show is going nowhere.
