I heard the streets of Baltimore have become Mardi Gras after they found out the Orioles tied for first place ...
Putting jokes aside -- if you think the Yankees were going to win this game with Freddy Garcia on the mound, then you thought the Yankees would score ten runs.
There was no way, Yankees win this game by only two runs. If they were going to win this game, they would have to score eight with Garcia on the mound, because you know Garcia gives up three-to-four runs per game.
Garcia is a pitcher the Yankees don't want out there starting for them; no offense to him, the guy is a crafty starter, but the Yankees need a pitcher who will shut down the Rays. It's become to the point where the Yankees can't have the opposing team score one run lead ... It's gone THAT bad.
If Garcia keeps it at 3-2, Yankees might have comeback. But at this time, and how the Yankees are going, they will not fight back from a 4-2 deficit through five innings.
Now, the Yankees need a pitcher who will throw a shut out in every start, in order to win ... It is that bad.
When Evan Longoria hits the 2-run homerun in the bottom 4th, to give the Rays the lead, 3-2, you can feel the weight on the shoulders of the Yankees. You can feel the stress coming. And in that inning, Garcia made two outs off two pitches. Then all hell broke loose when he walks Ben Zobrist, then eventually gives up the homer to Longoria. Very odd inning.
Orioles Tie For First Place: It maybe tied, but the Yankees are still first place. They are..
Yankees have scratch, claw and fight their way back to the top. That's all. Nothing is over. Yankee season is not over because the Orioles are tied for first place. There is too much baseball left. Also, I want to see if the Orioles are gonna stay this hot throughout September. Because you know they're going to hit a rough patch, soon.
The Yanks would have to really bomb it, in order to fall out of the postseason. And again -- they're still FIRST PLACE ! Yes, Orioles are tied with them, but they're still first place.
Yankees Are Getting Deflated ?: It looked that tonight, when B.J Upton hit that solo homerun.
You hope, as a Yankee fan, that the bad is already out of system. And it should be.
This lost tonight, should be it. They can't get any worst. Yanks should feel calm. I expect the Yankees to play loose. They already blew the 10-game lead, so, go out and play baseball. There is nothing the Yankees can do about that, than just win or go home for October.
