Yankees Fallout: VINTAGE ANDY

FINAL: Blue Jays 2 Yankees 4

Hey, I just noticed that I have do two Yankee Fallouts, since it's a double-header today. Jeez ... Gonna be busy.

Andy Pettitte's Return: Looked as if he never left. Andy Pettitte went 5.0 innings, 4 hits, 3 K's and 0 runs, and finished right at 75-pitches. Not bad.

Pettitte wasn't the strikeout pitcher he was before he got injured, he was vintage Andy. Getting ground-balls of that cutter; getting the cutter in on lefties; throwing the off-speed/breaking-pitches to pop-up hitters, he was old-school Andy.

After the 4th-inning, we all thought Pettitte's day was done when he was around 65-70 pitch mark -- not the case. He came in the top 5th -- and I'm thinking, any little bloop hit and Joe Girardi is coming out this game -- and Pettitte pitched the easiest one-two-three inning. I mean, Pettitte came in the 5th as if to say: 'I'm winning this game, and no one is going to blow it'. He went into the 5th like a man in charge.

I wonder if Girardi kinda pushed Pettitte into the 5th. If he did, you can't blame him since bullpen has been shaky and he needs saves arms for tonight. Also, I think Pettitte didn't mind going back out, since he could get the win.

Pettitte is still a little rusty, which we all expected. But he's gonna get better, and I really think -- and it may sound crazy -- that the D.L stint may have been a good thing. Who knows if he'd never hurt his ankle, would he have a tired arm by now. Having a refilled Andy Pettitte in September, is massive.

Ichiro Suzuki: Enough, already ! Ichiro Suzuki needs to play everyday ! Girardi needs to stop with this - 'we have to sit Ichiro down because we're facing a lefty'. Stop it ! Ichiro is not a rookie. Just because he's batting .240 against lefties doesn't mean it's impossible for him to get hits of them. Look what he did against Darren Oliver -- he blooped a hit and scored.

If Girardi is so worried about stats like that, he might as well bench Robinson Cano against lefties.

And how about that catch he made to end that horrific 8th ? What a catch to save the game. He held that ball like a baby.

David Robertson: He had become either good or bad, now. And today, he was bad.

That 8th inning gave me and serval Yankee fans, heart-attacks. It was unbelievable how Robertson was on the brink of losing this game.

Robertson has not been the same since returning from the D.L, months ago.

NOTE: I'll be back after today's second game Fallout. Go Yankees and go Mariners ;)
