The 55th annual Grammys just ended, and it's good to see REAL music get the trophies.
Although, for the overall show being good: it wasn't.
I've begin to notice in these music award shows now -- including the MTV Video Music Awards -- there aren't many performances by big stars.
I know Justin Timberlake performed his new debut. But in the Grammys we're suppose see a lot of performances, by big names. It's night where we should see Beyonce, Jay-Z, Lady Gaga, Adele, Chris Brown, Justin Bieber perform in all one night. That' why people want to watch the Grammys -- to see a star-studded show.
And I'm sorry, having L.L Cool J end the show was lame. Do you even know why he ended the show? Well, since the Grammys were on CBS where his show "NCIS" is on, they wanted to publicize him. It's really the only reason he's hosting the Grammys. I mean, don't get me wrong, I like all Cool J's stuff...but this is 2013. Come on...
So many musicians we don't even know... I find myself saying: 'Who the hell is that?' Back in the days, you knew every singer in the award show. Now, there's so many Joe Schmos. Part of that is because MTV and VH1 don't show music videos anymore - hardly.
Taylor Swift Opening the Grammys: Very good open. With this lackluster music era we're in, it's difficult to find a musician to open up the Grammys. Taylor Swift is the perfect artist to open up the show. The only problem is, after her, there's no more.
Goyte & Kimbra win for Record of the Year: So happy for Goyte and Kimbra; I wanted them to win an award for "Somebody That I Use To Know" in the worst way. That was a great hit last year. And it's an actual song that people sing without autotune. Also, Goyte got some Sting, in this voice.
Fun. wins for Song of the Year: Finally, a prediction I had that was right! And well deserved.
Mumford and Sons win Album of the Year: I love "I Will Wait", but didn't expect Mumford and Sons to win album of the year.
