Knicks: Will Kenyon Martin Help?

February 22, 2013

New York Knicks have agreed to terms with Kenyon Martin, yesterday afternoon right after deadline.

The Knicks have a front depth of: Tyson Chandler, Amare Stoudemire, Marcus Camby(if healthy), Rasheed Wallace(if healthy), Kurt Thomas(if healthy) and now Martin, the Knickerbockers can be very tough defensively in the paint.

If Martin comes in and plays how he's capable of, with Chandler, Knicks can build a wall against opposing teams in the paint. But mostly, he'll help more when Chandler is resting on the bench. Because the Knicks have been lacking inside depth, with the absents of Wallace and Camby. During games when Chandler has to sit, the Knicks interior defense becomes water. The only big man they have is Stoudemire.

Martin will provide quickness and will open up the floor with his passing ability in the interior floor; he's gonna open up spots for Chandler, Raymond Felton, J.R Smith and Iman Shumpert. He's gonna change the team dramatically, but he's gonna do the little things the Knicks need.

He's coming to a team that he has had good chemistry with in the past, in Carmelo Anthony when they were in Denver and Jason Kidd with their stint in New Jersey.

Is Martin Too Old: ...Sure. But he's coming to play half a season -- so he's fresh and brand new. If he wouldn't been playing for another team, I would have questioned his durability at this age of 35.

Martin is schedule to play next week.
