Manhattan's Foot Action Shuts Down

February 12, 2013

The Manhattan, New York, Foot Action sneaker store on 430 7th Ave, has closed.

I was shocked to see this last week, while in Manhattan. I always thought Foot Action had good business; every time I'd pass by it, people are in it. And when a new pair of Air Jordans would release, they would sell out quickly.

I had to keep looking inside just to make sure it was Foot Action, because I couldn't believe it.

But it's tough keeping a sneaker store in and any clothing store in general in NYC, because people can easily buy sneakers and/or clothing over the internet. I buy mostly all my sneakers over the internet. Also, every store has the same crap as the next.

In Soho, there's about twenty sneaker stores that are all the same. Nothing new or exclusive -- it's all basic, and stuff you can find over the internet, easily.

"Flight Club NY" is the probably the best store you can find new, rare sneakers, but the problem is the prices are insane. It's basically rent money, for kickz.

The only store that always updates their items, is "Urban Outfitters". They don't have a big sneaker selection -- although, they'll have the newest Vans. If you love Vans, Urban Outfitters is where you wanna you; they always brings the newest, seasonal pairs.

Sad to see Foot Action leave 34th street... Then, I look across the street and still see the same Foot Locker store that's been around for about twenty years ... Amazing.
