This is what I wanted! ... But I didn't expect it to be at Brooklyn!
MTV has announced that this year's Video Music Awards will be held at the Barclays Center at Brooklyn, New York, on August 25th.
I thought, if MTV would've host this year's VMAs in New York City, it would be at the Radio City Music Hall, or the Metropolitan Opera Center -- like they've done in the past. I didn't expect the Barclays Center. That didn't even cross my mind.
What a great job, by MTV. They never cease to amaze me with their creativity. And kudos to the Barclays Center -- because Madison Square Garden, who they're in competition with (kinda), have never hosted the VMAs (which is strange, when you think about it). Now the Barclays has that on their resume. They have something to one-up on MSG.
That Brooklyn area is going to be packed, on the 25th of August. I really hope we get a star-studded award show. And we might get that, since Jay-Z being part owner of the Brooklyn Nets, he's gonna pull and entice all musicians to come. Which is another smart move by MTV to have it host there.
Now the next question will be: Who will be the host? And the first name that pops in my head, when I think "VMAs" and "Brooklyn", is Chris Rock ... He's from Brooklyn and him being the best VMAs host ever, it's only fitting.
