Yankees: Justin Morneau or BUST

March 11, 2013

No Derrek Lee, No Scott Rolen and certainly No Chipper Jones (for crying out loud). Yankees need to get Justin Morneau. Pay up! Stop being cheap Hal Steinbrenner.

Brian Cashman is giving an interview to the media about players he has interest in to fill up for the injured Mark Teixeira who will miss the first ten weeks of the season, and maybe more.

The options Cashman has to fill up first base are so bad, it seems like they're giving up on the 2013 season. The Yankees are basically telling their fans: 'We're not competing this year -- but we still want you to pay thousands to sit in our horribly quiet new stadium, that's nothing like the old stadium.'

The only reason Mariano Rivera announced his retirement earlier than we expected, is because the Yankees told him to announce it early so they can sell seats, since Hal Steinbrenner is being so cheap to go out and trade for a big bat.

They think, just because Mariano is having his last season, fans will race to buy tickets no matter how bad the team is. Hal is fooling the fans, and being cheap. So cheap, his dad is probably rolling in his grave.

And listen, I love Mo-Rivera. I'm sad to see him go and its gonna be hard to see him not close for us anymore after this season. But I'm sorry -- I'm not gonna sit home, on beautiful summer days, to watch Mariano pitch when we're not a playoff team.

How do we know if he's gonna even pitch a lot? Yankees need to have the lead in order for him to pitch. How do we know if this Yankee offense will score enough, to do so?

Yankees best option to fill in for first with Teixeira out, is Justin Morneau -- plain and simple. If something happens to Teixeira where he can't return to the Yankees this season from his wirst injury, you wouldn't have to worry with Morneau being there; Morneau can even be better than Teixeira.

But if Teixeira goes down the only option the Yankees have is...Derrek Lee... 37-year old Derrek Lee... Whose retired, mind you, and the Yankees are trying to "lure" him back to baseball... You cannot be serious? Lee is your best option? This has got to be a joke... For that have Yankee fans lineup around Yankee Stadium for tryouts.

Then, Cashman's next option is Chipper Jones... Is there a punchline somewhere? I thought this was joke when Jon Heyman tweeted this. Either is was a joke, or Heyman's Twitter page was hacked.

Oh, and NOW they want to talk about Ronnier Mustelier being great. I admit, I like Mustelier to be in the outfield; and I still do. But before Teixeira's injury you didn't hear a word about Mustelier. When I liked him, the Yankees didn't, because they thought he wasn't that good of a fielder. Okay. Now that Teixeira is gone, Mustelier has now become a can't miss prospect and the answer. They're saying: 'Here, here, look... We got this guy... You like him, right? Remember?'

The Yankees are treating their fans like dumb whores. I mean, at least sell us Manny Ramirez.

Go get Justin Morneau. You want to sell tickets? That's how you do it.

And for those fans who are unhappy about the Yankees new spending agenda, there's a perfect way for you to react by this, and that's by not buying a ticket, or watching any of the games. And that'll be easy since they'll suck. It won't be hard to not watch out beloved Yankees when they suck. 2008 was pretty easy not to watch.
