Melissa McCarthy hosted the newest edition of Saturday Nigh Live; and hosting SNL for the second time in her career.
Wow, for a big girl, she's athletic! McCarthy is amazing to watch. It almost brings back to that SNL writer who said seeing Chris Farley be that big and that athletic, is breathtaking. You can pretty much say the same about McCarthy.
Some host don't know the feel of SNL. McCarthy does. She legitimately gets the hilarity and style of Saturday Night Live.
When Melissa hosts SNL, you're not gonna be bored. The ideal skits may suck, but she's gonna keep awake; no matter what type of skit she does. And the main reason for that is because she's a big girl whose funny -- which is hard to find -- and can do so many things with her body, it fascinates the viewers; without the viewers really noticing that about her talents.
I remember that column someone wrote about McCarthy's weight, when writer really bashed her about her weight; which was uncalled for. But her weight is her moneymaker. She could've lost weight from the time that writer said that, but she can't. The combination of her size and comedy makes her successful, or funny. It's like telling Chris Farley to lose 100-pounds -- and if he did, he would not be funny.
Although, I hope McCarthy does get into shape one day. She's got the beautiful face.
The Monologue:
Probably the best monologue of the year.
I'm sure McCarthy had everyone worried while walking in those heels, lol. I was thinking: If she falls and breaks something, she won't be able to do the show. But that's what made it so great.
Outside The Lines:
Best skit of the show. What perfect timing for that Rutgers scandal to happen, while McCarthy is hosting SNL. No one could've done a better female basketball coach, whose abusive to her players, better than her. Just brilliant. I was balling with laughter.
The Voice:
I wonder who bought Jay Pharoah those Balenciaga Arena sneakers? If it was Lorne Michaels, man, he's nice boss.
Pharoah was spot on doing Usher. And it's very difficult to do a voice like Usher's, because Usher sounds like a regular guy. But Pharoah added the some of Usher's music to his impersonation.
Kate McKinnon: Excellent on her impersonation of Shakira. Same as Pharoah, McKinnon adding Shakira's music to her impersonation.
Pizza Business:
This is what I mean about McCarthy keeping you interested, even when she does a skit like this that'
Who else could've done a skit better, about a lady trying to begin a business by eating people's leftover pizza ... Lol. Give it to McCarthy, she'll know what to do with it (no-pun).
The Art of the Encounter:
I have no clue what this was about... BUT I do know Cecily Strong was part of it! :D
My favorite part of this sketch was Cecily picking her leg up while she was describing something I couldn't understand, and you almost could see her Strong-Taco.
