Westbrook Out: Could be the Heat & Knicks season

Boy oh boy, bad news for Oklahoma City Thunder fans, as their point guard Russell Westbrook will undergo surgery to repair a torn meniscus.

The NBA must not be thrill with this news. First Derrick Rose never returns; Rajon Rondo tears his ACL; Kobe Bryant tore his achilles, and now this news with Westbrook. Just terrible.

But if you're the Miami Heat and/or the New York Knicks, this could very well be your season. I mean, there isn't question whether Miami can bum rush through these teams and not lose a game, because we know they can; even if they lost Dwyane Wade or Chris Bosh. Though, if you're the Knicks, all you have to do is beat the Heat and this could be your year; easier said than done, but it's possible.

Looking at the way OKC have been playing, I was starting to become a non-believer that they could beat Miami. And started to believe that the Knicks could beat Miami. Because they have a great player in Carmelo Anthony to match against Lebron James, and have a lot of depth and size in the paint.

I don't want to jump the gun here, and say the Knicks 'will be' in the eastern conference finals. They have a lot of work to do, first. But with this injury to Westbrook leaving OKC not as threatening, gives New York a big chance to finally win a championship -- if not, Miami will be.

That James Harden trade looks...pretty good now... Right?
