Thank goodness for Justin Timberlake and Lady Gaga for appearing to the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards. If they didn't show up, we're talking about probably the worst VMAs in MTV's 30-year history.
I know I've said that the VMAs needed to return to Metropolitan Opera House or Radio City, because the VMAs is at it's best in New York City. Well, it sure as hell wasn't it's best in Brooklyn, at the Barclay Center.
The VMAs are just not what it once was, anymore. I have to come to that realization. And the main reason for that is because good music is not being promoted in the mainstream. I'm not even gonna say 'music sucks, today' because it doesn't. There's a lot of good music out there but not being seen. It's the music that they put out there they're making us force to like, is garbage.
No diversity in music genres in performances, anymore. It's a little bit of hip-hop and a lot of Pop trash.
Did we really need to see Miley Cyrus look like a complete fool and go through some hormonic crises, on stage? What a waste of time that was. That time could've been used for someone like A$AP Rocky, Lana Del Rey or someone else whose more deserving and more TALENTED in music. Robin Thicke should've performed with Pharrell and T.I, on their great hit "Blurred Lines". Not to ruin Thicke's first ever VMA performance.
Where are the stars? Last year's the VMAs had the same problem as this year, where there was no stars at the event.
Back then in the VMAs, every present and past artist came to the award show. Tonight, when they kept putting the camera toward the celebrity seatings, all they kept showing was Gaga (okay), Rihanna(okay), Taylor Swift(okay) -- but 80% of the time they kept showing Will Smith's kids, Jaden and Willow... Are you fucking kidding me? Who are they? I know their father, but not them!
That's the only celebrities MTV could show seating? Wow. And it's nothing against MTV, it just sad how the VMAs aren't what it once was.
Nobody wants to be part of the VMAs, anymore. Even Rihanna looked tired and wanted to get the fuck out of there.
Timberlake and Gaga saved the show in some levels, Kanye West was good but need more out of him. I was expecting more out of Yeezus.
JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE MOMENT: Very touching. J.T winning the Michael Jackson Vanguard Award, with Jimmy Fallon presenting, was great. And seeing 'N Sync reunite was pretty cool for about...5 seconds, was pretty cool; especially seeing Timberlake's face bright up while performing with his old group.
