With last night's win and the Tampa Bay Rays losing, the Yankees are now 5.5 games back in the American League Wild Card.
Also, the Baltimore Orioles and Kansas City Royals lost as well -- which are teams that are on front of the Yankees in the wild card. That certainly helps.
Teams like the Rays, Royals, Cleveland Indians, I believe are gonna get cold. Look what's happened to the Rays --- they've lost 6 in-a-row. Perfect time for the Yankees take advantage.
The Yankees see the Rays next weekend at Tropicana Field for a three-game set, starting on August 23rd-25th. Entering that weekend, the Yankees can't be anything less than 5.5 games out before the 25th of this month. If they want to make it easier for themselves and basically have a chance at all, can't be six or seven games out. If they can be 3.5 games back by that first game against the Rays and if the bombers can take 2 out of 3 which will leave them at 1.5 games back, I'm predicting in September, the Yankees will takeover the second wild card.
The only team team on front of the Yankees that worry me are the Orioles. Baltimore is the real deal to me. Can't take the Indians and Royals seriously, but I do take the O's. And the Yankees can take care of the Orioles because they see them seven more times this season.
After last night's win against the Los Angeles Angels, the Yankees should be able to get into the rhythm of winning games. They have to get into that rhythm where they're down 3-0 in the 3rd inning and comeback and win the game 7-3. They haven't gotten into that paste of winnings games, and now seems right for that to start.
Yankees got the power bats back in the lineup. And Derek Jeter might comeback next week, even though the Yankees, I think, should be able to win without Jeter.
