Yankees: Claimed Kendrys Morales?

If the New York Yankees didn't claim Kendrys Morales, then the Kansas City Royals, probably, blocked him from being claimed by the Yankees.

It would make almost perfect sense for the Yankees to be the team to have claimed Morales.

Why could the mystery team that claim Morales maybe the Yankees?
Being that the Yankees have a lower record than the other contending teams, they would be one of the first teams to be asked to claim Morales. Which means teams like the Red Sox, Tigers, Rangers, Athletics, Orioles, Indians would have to wait after the Yankees past on him, for them to claim him.

Unlike past seasons where the Yanks are first place in the east or have one of the best records, they couldn't be one of the first couple of teams to claim anyone getting put through waivers.

But those elite teams might have claimed Morales if the Yankees passed on him.

It could be a team blocking the Yankees, or blocking any other of the contending teams on getting him. Maybe the Royals.

So again, it makes sense for the Yankees to be the mystery team. But would the Yankees give up to get Morales? Probably wouldn't have to give that much considering the Seattle Mariners would take anything for a player who will be a free agent and will not re-sign with them in the off-season.

It sounds like it's the Yankees -- but I don't want to get my hopes up. You put Morales in the Yankees lineup, it all of sudden becomes murder's row.
