Via Twitter, ESPN's Chris Broussard is reporting that the New York Knicks, Chicago Bulls and Philadelphia Sixers are interested in acquiring Cleveland Cavs guard Dion Waiters. Cavs are reportedly interested in Knicks guard Iman Shumpert.
I rather Kenneth Faried. I rather trade Shumpert for Faried; a big man in the paint. Would Waiters make a difference? He could. Knicks do need another scorer behind the line, with the Knicks lacking three-point shooting from last year.
Waiters is young, at 21, is explosive to the rim and can shoot the three. He'd be an upgrade over what Raymond Felton and J.R Smith have provide so far this early in the season.
The thing I'm worried about with Waiters, is his personality. The reason the Cavs are trading him is because he's not getting along with Kyrie Erving. The Knicks have a bevy of players with 'chip on the shoulder', already; or, players that are hardheaded. Don't want to add another problem, unless Waiters is seriously committed so being a star on the Knicks. A change of scenery, or a team where he can be the star point-guard without Erving in his way, is probably what he needs.
Would I Do The Trade?: I probably would, since I'm desperate for some damn wins on this 3-10 Knick team. Any change right now, I would take. Because it could be a spark that can turn this season around.
As of right now, the Knicks need to do something quick to change the negative motives.
