Mets: David Price Should Be Considered

Before some of you New York Met fans bash me or quickly decline the idea, hear me out first...

The one reason why the Mets should make an offer to the Tampa Bay Rays for ace David Price, is because he'll be a Met for two seasons. Not one.

The other main reason why Price being a Met for two seasons is a good thing -- hopefully, he can feel how it is to pitch with Matt Harvey, who coming back from Tommy John Surgery. Then by 2015, when you hope the Mets are good, Price would pitch with Harvey and feel how it is to win in New York. And if the Mets have a winning season, Price could re-sign.

What do I mean by 'winning season'? Making the playoffs, or even winning a World Series. Getting Price, is the reason why you want to get to the World Series.

A Price-Harvey top of the rotation is scary for any National League team to face; especially in a Division Series. With that rotation, the Mets can lock the division for years. And you know how many free agent position players would want to come to the Mets, because of Price and Harvey? They'd probably want to sign with the Mets more than the Yankees; I'm a Yankee fan and I hate to say that, but it's true. The ship could turn.

In order for all this to happen, you have to GET Price, FIRST! So what would I offer if I'm Mets general manager Sandy Alderson?

I'd offer:

Rays get: Dan Wheeler, Juan Lagares, Ike Davis, Rafael Montero, Travis d'Arnaud

Mets get: David Price, Desmond Jennings, Alex Cobb

The Mets have to get a little more, because they're offering two top pitching prospects.

Mets have to at least try to call Tampa. Because the future may seem bright -- before Harvey got injured...
