Yankees: Beltran Pushing Yanks for Third Year

Wait a second, I thought the YANKEES were the frontrunners?! Smh...

Free agent outfielder Carlos Beltran met with the Kansas City Royals, who offered Beltran a 3-year, $48 million dollar contract.

While the New York Yankees -- a team Beltran is interested in and a player the Yankees are interested -- are only offering the free agent switch-hitter a 2-year deal, only. New York does not want to go 3-years for a 36-year old outfielder and might stick to their words... So far.

Now, I think -- from my knowledge of figuring out things -- Beltran is sniffing around trying to get 3-year offers from other teams, so that the Yankees can pony up for that 3rd year. His mindset, in my view, is the Yankees. I think he doesn't want to go anywhere else, but the Bronx. Until the Yankees say no to Beltran, he will be waiting for them.

Even if the Yankees stick to their guns and stay at 2-years, Beltran might end up taking it.

This is the only chance for Beltran to be a Yankee; something he's always wanted to be. We all know his idol was Yankee great Bernie Williams, who like Beltran -- is a native of Puerto Rico.

After last night's stunner of the Yankees signing Jacoby Ellsbury to monster 7-year, $153 million dollar contract, you would have to wonder if Beltran is more eager to play along side with Ellsbury and the team the Yankees are potentially going to have in general. Not only this might be Beltran's last try to play in the Bronx, but possibly could win a ring with them, in 2014.

I say Beltran is a Yankee, in some point.
