Rondo in 2014 = Melo in 2011?

Could this be Carmelo Anthony circa 2011, all over again? Knicks fans (like me) sure fucking hope so.

And I may be jumping the gun on this, but with the recent report spilling about Rajon Rondo turning down a deal to the Sacramento Kings because he didn't want to sign an extension with them, could mean he's looking for bigger things.

I mean, anyone, at this point, would turn down an extension to go to Sacramento. But it's alarming how the Celtics are willing to deal Rondo, after months of saying they wouldn't. And they did trade him -- it just didn't go through because Rondo didn't want sign the contract extension.

Now we know, for sure, the Celtics have officially put Rondo on the trading block, right before the deadline. There's no 'yea; we think; we might" trade Rondo. He is on the block.

Now, this speaks volumes to other teams who want him. Or, should I say, teams who aren't the New York Knicks. He's not gonna accept a trade to any team.

There's two big questions to this -- the first one is: Would any team be willing to trade for him without him signing a contract extension? There might be. One team: Houston Rockets.

Second question: Is the New York Knicks the only team he's willing to sign an extension with? Could very well be.

You know, I wonder if Celtics GM Danny Ainge sat down with Rondo and told what teams he'd like to go to...

Remember when (Carmelo) Anthony had that meeting with the Knicks front office and owner James Dolan a couple of weeks ago -- could that be a meeting about Anthony giving them some scoop on Rondo? Anthony has been trying to recruit him.

We'll soon find what happens. Man, I hope Rondo gets traded to the Knicks. I'd do handstands on the streets of New York.
