As a person going for the Denver Broncos, just to see Peyton Manning win one more championship, this is what I was afraid what was going to happen.
If you were going for Denver or had a bet for them to win, this is what you had to be worried about. Which is: too much hype and pressure on Manning, and nothing; no pressure on Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson.
I had a feeling this was going to happen. Because Wilson had no pressure on him. Through the entire two weeks, we rarely heard anything about Wilson. It was all about the weather and Manning having to win one more ring. It almost was like Wilson was invisible, or not part of Super Bowl 48. He has nothing to lose; I understand some may think going to the Super Bowl is not house-money since you don't when you're gonna get back there. But, it really felt like that for Wilson.
Who would've thunk a miss snap by Manning, which would result to a 2-point safety, would effect the Broncos. When everyone saw that, including me, we were 'wowed' -- since it was an usual play to start the Super Bowl, but no one thought that start a 43-point win for the Seahawks and causing one of the best offenses in the league to only score 3 points.
There was just simply no nervousness for Wilson, it seemed. When I saw Manning come in Metlife Stadium this morning, he had his serious game face on. But when Wilson came in the building, he was just listening to his music on his headphones as if it was just another game.
And give credit to the Seattle defense. They came in there hungry for Manning. They fenced his receivers. He had pressure coming in almost every play. I mean, it took him t'll the second quarter to get a first first-down.
Tough way for Manning to end this 13-3 season. Another great season for Manning where he doesn't win a Super Bowl. I hope some New York Giant fans who complain about not making the playoffs enough, but still have a QB whose won two championships in five years, understand how hard it is.
Congratulations to the Seattle Seahawks. Well deserved. Now the rest of the NFC has to deal with a team who hasn't lost home for about years and now have Super Bowl winning QB. Yikes...
