There's a reason why Rihanna has to perform four times, last night.
Blue Ivy at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards |
Well, we all know for a lot of years that black musicians are better than white musicians. Even white people would agree. It's just human nature. It's the facts of life. But not only last night's VMAs showed everyone there are no white talented musicians, anymore, but how MTV has a hard time bringing in good musicians to the Video Music Awards.
And it's not that there aren't any good young musicians out there. There are. For an example: Alessia Cara -- who by the way, was performing at the pre-show! Why in the fuck is Cara, a GREAT talent, with a great voice, is performing at the pre-show, where NO ONE is watching. Why is MTV wasting that type of performance on a pre-show. Alessia Cara is a top, young talent.
And I understand Cara is still young and up-in-coming to perform on the main stage, but my god, who did MTV have better (besides Beyonce and Rihanna)?
You're gonna tell me the Chainsmokers and Halsey (whatever the fuck their name is) is better suited to perform the VMAs than Cara?
First of all, the guy who sings in Chainsmokers, was HORRIBLE. There's musicians out there who have talent but I'm not a fan of their music, but I still know they have talent -- the Chainsmokers, just has NO TALENT. When I saw him singing on stage, I thought MTV brought back "Say What Karaoke". What is that!? Is that really singing? I'm sorry. I could do what he did! If there's a singer out there who can do what millions of others can do, that singer is NOT an artist. He shouldn't even be on television.
The only good thing about Halsey - she showed her nipples at the red carpet. That's it.
At least Nick Jonas has a little bit of a voice and has a musical background for years, but I'm tired of the Jonas 'going solo' experiment. Both, Nick and his brother - I had enough. The way MTV put together Nick's performance, is like MTV telling all of us: Look guys, we know he's boring and dry, so we need to add all these things to his performance.
The Jonas brothers are getting too much of the Jimmy Fallon treatment, in music. They get beats and music written for them, and free publicity. The basic Hollywood white privilege.
This the MTV Video Music Awards. You have to add big, musical talent. Alessia Cara has got to perform, live, at the VMAs. Chance the Rapper, another great talent, has got to perform LIVE at the VMAs. Bring in Action Bronson to perform! Bronson would be perfect for the VMAs and MTV.
Ty Dolla $ign featuring in Nick Jonas' performance, was a slap in a the face the Ty's talent. Even when he performs with Fifth Harmony, that's a bad look for him.
Where was Rae Sremmurd!?
Why the hell is Desiigner sitting in the audience and NOT PERFORMING! He has one of the biggest songs of the year!!!! I have a friend who went to the VMAs and Desiigner was almost sitting on front of him -- what is he doing there!?
Desiigner should've taken Future's performance. Future is another musician whose WAY overrated. He's so overrated, he'll even tell you he's overrated. Michael Phelps presented Future last night and called him an "inspiration" -- which made me realize I may be too old for music.
There's some celebrities you can't bash because it took them years to get to where they're at today, but what Future does, isn't hard. At all. All he does is mumble on a mic.
You take away Beyonce's (godly) performance and Rihanna's FOUR performances, what kind of show you have? Probably the worst VMAs of all-time.
When Kanye West came out, I said: Finally, we should get something good, but he didn't say shit! What was the point of having him talk? At least the Fade video he presented was dope; the Fade video was one of the best highlights of the VMAs.
Rihanna doesn't need to perform four times. Her "Work" performance was the best and only performance she should've done. The style of the "Work" performance was put together, was perfect. I know she's got a lot of hits, but she's not the type of artist to perform three more times, in an award show. This is not a Rihanna concert. It's the VMAs. MTV has to entertain all musicians for all fans.
And what can you say about Beyonce. MTV should be in their hands and knees praising her. Without her, the VMAs would've done a record low in ratings.
This weekend passing by Madison Square Garden, looking how MTV were building the pre-show stage, it was exciting. Even the pre-show looked great. Also the VMAs being back in New York City, had me massively interested. But the ball was dropped. MTV really had a chance to put together an amazing show, but failed to. Whoever is producing these things, I don't know how they get to keep their jobs. Whoever put the VMAs together, basically had no passion for the award show -- and no care for it. Sad.
