My SNL Live Experience: Reason Why Some Shows Aren't As Good

I've been watching Saturday Night Live -- pretty much all of my life. And last night I got to see the show in-person for the first time in my life.
I ended winning two tickets this week, for yesterday's edition that was hosted by former SNL alumni, Kristen Wiig.

Even though I didn't win the live show and got to see the dress rehearsal, I still enjoyed it. When I fully read the email I was received from SNL that I won the dress rehearsal tickets, instead of the live show, I HAVE to admit cold water thrown on me - lol. But they're FREE SNL TICKETS! What do I have to complain!?

Although, the rehearsal was exactly like the live show. It was actually better than the live show I watched on television, when I came home. Which I found very interesting.

While watching the SNL sketches being rehearsed, then when the sketches were over, each cast member from that particular sketch would run back to the dressing room, to get changed, to either put a different wig or costume on, for their next sketch.

Now mind you, I was watching the dress rehearsal show. They have to do the live show right after, which means they have do the same thing all over again for the live show. They have to put the same makeup, wig, costume all over again. Then take it off -- all over again. SNL basically does two shows every Saturday.

That's when I noticed, when you watch the live show on television and it isn't that good of a show, it's because the cast is so worn out from the three-hour rehearsal. By the time they have to do the live show, they're already hating their fucking job.

I understand they're working for SNL, which is beyond amazing, and they're making pretty damn good money. But the overload each cast member goes through, in every show, is a lot. The running back and forth after each sketch is over, changing wardrobes, reading lines from a cardboard during a live show; then after they do all that, they have to do it AGAIN for the live show -- where on the live show, they're suppose to be right mentally and physically.

When I saw Kristen Wiig on the live show, on television when I got home, her opening monologue was totally night and day compare to the rehearsal show, I saw. On the dress rehearsal monologue, she was upbeat, excited ready to go, but on the live show she was done-for. I can tell Wiig was tired and worn out from the rehearsal.

And that's why, at times, the live show may not be as good because they're doing the same exact show for the second time. That takes the magic out of the cast members. I was even hoping to stay for the live show, but after watching the rehearsal...you really don't wanna stay to watch the same thing all over again.

At first, when the show was about to start, I said to myself: 'Man, these cast members must get nervous, before a big show like this, starts'. But after a while, it becomes almost work. The cast becomes to tired to get nervous or excited.

All and all, the show was fantastic. Even entering Rockefeller Center and getting to the SNL floor, made wanna become a celebrity. I even got to see my love, Cecily Strong, in-person for the first time! She had some legs on her; I-yi-yi. 😍

From all my years of watching SNL at home, every Saturday night since I was a baby, to finally going to the show -- a dream come true. I hope to get selected again, for next season. Or this season... 😁
