Yankees Lose To Red Sox 4-3, In A Walk-Off Hit By Jacoby Ellsbury
I just knew the ballgame was going to end in the bottom ninth. The way that inning started, was all bad luck for the Yankees.
The way Pedro Ciriaco hit that curve-ball in the dirt for a base hit, that wasn't a bad pitch by David Robertson. That was just pure unlucky. The ball that was hit by Mike Aviles, had eyes and should have been fielded for an out. Again -- unlucky.
But the single Jacoby Ellsbury hit, wasn't unlucky.
.RISP: Not only Yankees should have won this game, but should have scored six runs.
I understand you're not going to get every single player on base, home. But Jon Lester has a 4.99 ERA, and the Yankees has a chance to knock him out early, and put some runs on the board.
In the first inning, Alex Rodriguez, in his first at-bat, had Derek Jeter at third and Nick Swisher at second, and he's trying to make contact to get the run home, so he hits a 0-1 curveball in the dirt. I understand he's trying to make any type of contact to get the runner home, but can A-Rod wait and hit a better pitch ? The first pitch Lester threw in the at-bat was right down the middle. On that first pitch he could of knocked it off the green monster.
Eduardo Nunez Had Got To Be Inserted In The Lineup: Enough, already ! Put Nunez in the lineup.
Nunez is the spark that the Yankees need right now. I'd even put him against right-handers.
Nunez's offensive game is what the Yankees NEED. He can hit singles and drive the balls to the gap for doubles and triples. And if they have to DH him, fine. Why not ? All the DHs the Yankees have can only strikeout and homeruns.
And Nunez to bat second. Take Nick Swisher out. I know he was getting hot because he moved to the second spot, but now he's not hot.
Yankees need a base stealer on the top order of the lineup. If A-Rod is hitting behind Nunez, and Nunez is on first, and A-Rod hits a double, Nunez is going first to home, easily.
If Teixeira is out for the rest of the season, Yankees HAVE to put Nunez in the lineup. Because he'll make the Yankees forget about power and make them become a more fundamentally offensive team.
Orioles Tie The East, AGAIN: Orioles a playing with a swagger, right now. And the Yankees are not. Yankees look tense, as hell.
And if you're complaining this morning, or last night, which I was, but this something you're gonna have to deal with in September, until the Yankees clinch the A.L East. This is going to be tough, throughout September.
