Yankees Need Encarnacion More Than Any Other Team

Some Yankee fans who disagree with this potential signing, tend forget this player was the best hitter in the American League.
With Carlos Beltran has signed a one-year deal with the Houston Astros, worth $16 million dollars. For days It seemed like the Astros were a distance frontrunner for Edwin Encarnacion. Now with the Beltran signing eliminating the Astros from signing the right-handed masher, all of sudden the Yankees become the new frontrunner.

They're many reasons why the Yankees need to sign Encarnacion.

They're some Yankee fans on Twitter who disagree with giving Encarnacion a multi-year contract, because they wanna give the baby bombers (the Yankee prospects) a chance to play and they think this another big, bad contract the Yanks inhale and it'll end up being a disappointment.

And I disagree with them. Encarnacion isn't some feast or famine DH, that's only gonna hit cookie pitches. This was the best hitter in the American League, and can make the case he was the best hitter in baseball, in 2016. Yankees wouldn't be signing some high-fastball hitter. This would be a game-changer.

Encarnacion had 42-homeruns, 127-RBIs, had a .263 average and a .357 OBP.

Some Yankee fans talk about how a potential Encarnacion signing would hurt the younger Yankees from any playing time, by having the DH spot occupied -- no it wouldn't it. The younger players are young for a reason; they're suppose to play on the field everyday. The DH is suppose to be for the older, power hitting veteran. Not for a 22-year-old. Unless your name is Kyle Schwarber.

Gary Sanchez would be one of the baby bombers who'd be for signing Encarnacion. Sanchez knows what type of hitter he'll become with the protection of Encarnacion hitting behind him. What protection does Sanchez have?

This may sound crazy, but if the Yankees sign Encarnacion, he'll be the best power hitter they've sign since they acquired Alex Rodriguez and Gary Sheffield in 2004. He's that type of hitter. He's a better offensive player than Bobby Abreu and Mark Teixeira. This would be a A-Rod, Sheffield, Hideki Matsui type bat, they'd sign.

The Yankees cannot let the Toronto Blue Jays or Boston Red Sox sign him. If he goes elsewhere, outside the A.L East -- fine. But they can't have the Jays, who already signed Kendrys Morales, whose a switch-hitting first baseman the Yankees would've loved to have, and they sure as hell can't have the Red Sox sign him, for him to go along with Hanley Ramirez, Mookie Betts, Dustin Pedroia, Jackie Bradley.

I don't think the Yankees are very high on their young, first baseman, Greg Bird, who was out for the entire last season due to shoulder injury. Now Bird is having a rough time in the Arizona League, causing the Yankee hierarchy to worried. With Encarnacion being a DH and first baseman, he'll be an excellent insurance for Bird.

HOW WILL THIS DEAL GET DONE

As of now, even with the Astros signing Beltran and the Red Sox not being interested in Encarnacion, making the Yankees the lone suitors, I still think it isn't a sure thing. And it really isn't. Also even with the Jays signing Morales, I still think they're in it. He could end up going back to Toronto.

Yankees are probably waiting for the asking price to down. The asking price for the power hitting DH is around 4-5 years, $100 million.

If I were the Yankees, I'd sign him for four-years, $100 million; making $25 million per. Less years, more money. And that would be my only and final offer. I wouldn't go five.

Encarnacion being 33-years-old doesn't faze me, as a Yankee fan. I view him being a very strong, powerful hitter, as he enters into his mid 30's. Like a Beltran, David Ortiz, Adrian Beltre; those guys were still dangerous hitters in their mid to late 30's.

I think Encarnacinon would love to play in the Bronx. He'll for sure gain an interest with the hispanics in the Bronx and New York community. This is an exciting player the Yankees and Yankee Stadium needs. The Yankees haven't had a fierce, smash power bat like this, in a while. A long while.
