Yankees Close to Acquiring Alfonso Soriano

I would have prefer to post this story after the deal is officially done -- but I think it will get done.

Last night, I came up with a unusual link that looked unseen but had big words. Those words: "Yankees are close to acquiring Soriano."

Nypost, George King who was the first report that the New York Yankees were on the brink of acquiring Alfonso Soriano.

This is the best move the Yankees can make; are there better moves, yea, but right now, this is the best they can do. Soriano is a right-handed bat that has plenty of power left in the tank.

Soriano is batting .256, with 17 homeruns and 51 RBI.

If, or when Soriano is acquired, the Yankees have got to keep their heads above water. With Soriano coming, then you hear news about Curtis Granderson getting closer and we know Derek Jeter will be back, the Yankees can have a productive lineup again.

Not counting Alex Rodriguez since we're hearing he'll be suspended, but if he didn't and did play, that's another big bat. Though we don't know if A-Rod will be here.

The Yankees can't give up. They're only 4-games out of the Wild Card in July 23d, and 7-games back in the A.L East. Can't give up with all these players coming back, and we've seen teams in the past couple of years make big runs to make the postseason after being 8-games out in July. We've seen it happen. And with this team that's five games over .500 without Mark Teixeira, A-Rod, Granderson, Jeter throughout the entire year, why stop now? It's July 23rd!

With this Soriano trade, Yankees don't give up anything. Which means they can still go out and get something else, if they could.

Potential, Healthy Lineup:
Ichiro
Jeter
Cano
Rodriguez
Granderson
Soriano
Overbay
Gardner
