Yankees Fallout: AIN'T WORRIED ABOUT NUN-EZ

Yankees Win 5-4, in Comeback Fashion

Seeing Robinson Cano fly out for the third out to end the eighth, I think some Yankee fans felt the game was over... That's when Yogi Berra comes and slaps me on the face for saying that.

If the Yankees make the playoffs, we will turn to this game as the marker. Because the Yankees looked completely dead, after Boone Logan gives up the two-run homer to Mitch Moreland.

Yankees had a 3-0 lead going into the 6th, Phil Hughes was cursing along -- and it just felt like the Yanks were going to pull this through.

Then, when they gave up the lead in the bottom 6th, it just felt like there was no coming back from this. Mind you, it they were only down by a run, but with this anemic offense it felt impossible; especially when Cano ended the 8th inning and you knew the middle lineup was coming up.

That's why a win like this, can put life into a team and to a season. And a hit like the triple Eduardo Nunez got, can be a moment that makes Nunez's career.

Nunez has shown tonight, that he can a dangerous player in the ninth, while trailing by a run. With his power and speed, he's a threat in the batters box. I thought that ball he hit in the ninth was going to be a homerun. That's pretty immense power to centerfield.

Brent Lillibridge: Big moment for him, as he got the big single to give the Yankees the 5-4 lead. Loved how he stood back, and waited for the right pitch. Great job.

Melky Mesa: Very impressed. Had a big double in the beginning of the game, and ended up scoring. Mesa can be an energizer for the second half. He's almost another Nunez but with more power.

Yankees Win: Now only 3.5 games back in the A.L Wild Card. The Yankees Andy Pettitte and Hiroki Kuroda going in the next two final games at Texas -- can they muscle two wins, here. If they can, they'll gain more games -- obviously -- and they'll see the Tampa Bay Rays this weekend, with possibly Derek Jeter and, MAYBE, Alfonso Soriano in the lineup. Yankees can make a big turn here.
