They're reports surfacing that the Atlanta Braves and San Francisco Giants are interested in New York Yankees reliever Joba Chamberlain.
Now, I don't know what the Braves would give up that would be enticing, but I do know the Giants have Tim Lincecum, who will be a free agent next season and isn't pitching well in San Francisco.
For you Yankee fans who bash this idea and want something better back -- you're not getting anything good back for a pitcher who struggling like Joba is. And the Yankees can trade him to San Fran for Lincecum, it wouldn't be good trade, it's be a GREAT trade.
I understand Lincecum has a 4-8 record with a 4.68 era, but he's Tim -- freakin' -- Lincecum. If the Giants called and offered this to Brian Cashman, you have to pull the trigger. Unless the Braves are gonna give young prospects, but those prospects probably won't turn out to be anything. With Lincecum, you know he's a proven winner in the playoffs and World Series champion -- two time, World Series champion.
It's a trade that can't hurt the Yankees. Also, he's going to be a free agent. Yankees will just pay for him this year.
Adding Lincecum to the Yankees starting rotation can strengthen it. And it'll add youth.
I think the Yankees would do this trade, but I don't if the Giants would.
