Top-5 Best Things of First Day School

Easy, Timmy! School's important!

I know, I know -- you hate to see the summer go. But all little kids and teens have to get back to work, in September. It's a part of life. As a young adult I've been there; I hated the last week of August, or the first week of September. Because you knew it was close to coming.

Though, the first day of school was sorta exciting for me. And the reason for that is, everything is NEW! Everything is brand new on the first day. It's like, new life. They're plenty of those 'new' things that make the first day of school great; so many great things, I've made a top-five list of the best things about the first day of school.

5. NEW SUPPLIES
It's sickening seeing all these t.v ads wanting parents to spend money on their crappy school supplies, as if they care so much about kids... BUT THAT'S BUSINESS!? RIGHT!?

Nevertheless, one of the things best about the first day is school supplies. Having a brand new glue, scissors; clean crayons; cool pens and pencils...now you're saying to yourself: "I'M NOT GONNA LET ANYONE BORROW MY SHIT, THIS YEAR!" Until November, when all your crayons are all dirty and you let every classmate borrow a pen or pencil and they never gave it back...Smh.

The fun of supplies ends at high school. Supplies are only fun intermediate or middle school. But it's fun as a kid. Now, we kinda miss those days.... :(

4. NEW TEACHER
In the first day we're all hoping our new teacher isn't a bitch or a bastard. But that's why in your first new class, you wanna make sure your teacher isn't a bitch or bastard to you. You don't want them hating your guts -- especially if you're stupid. I was stupid, so I was nice to them.

If you're failing but respectful your teacher, he/she is gonna give you a 59 score on your math test, instead of a 45. And if you miss a homework, they'll let you slide once or twice... Or, if you have to bring in a sheet with your parents signature on it and forget to bring it in, again, he/she will let you slide.

But if you're a pain in the ass kid who talks, curses back and you're stupid...you're dead. You might get left back twice. I was in those classes with those kids -- the real bad ones. It's not cool to look bad in class.

Then, they're class clowns -- like yours truly, was :).. If you're a class clown, you gotta make sure the teacher laughs are your jokes a little, in order for them not to hate you. If he/she thinks you're a little funny at times, you're okay. Even when they tell you: "You should do stand-up" then you're in really good hands -- unless they're being sarcastic.

So, don't be a wise ass to your teacher on the first day.

And if you want to fool around in class, just wait t'll he/she leaves the room. Then you can make all noises like the rest of class will, so you won't get in trouble.
I remember those days when the teacher use to leave the room and all your classmates would whack out. I use to slam my text book on the desk, really loud, so that the teacher could hear it in the hallway...and the teacher never knew who that was. Good times, good times.

3. NEW CLOTHES
Loved getting new clothes for the day. Especially new sneakers. On that first day day you're looking at your brand new sneakers in September, then once February rolls around they have dirt, milk, food all over them.

I always wanted to show my classmates on the first day, what I was bringing to plate. I wanted to show them I was going to be the best dresser, all year long.

The young kids don't really care for clothes. Only the teens heading to jr.high or high school.

2. NEW CLASSMATES
In 1995 new classmates in a first day, was called 'new friends'. But in 2013, they're called new Twitter/Facebook followers. And maybe new contacts for your smart phone...

New classmates are fun. You wanna who you're gonna love or hate the rest of the year.

The one friend that hangs out with you throughout the whole first day, is usually gonna be your best friend through the whole year. If he/she can hang with you through the toughest day, that's a friend.

No one really sees this, but meeting new classmates is like meeting the people you will know for the rest of your life. Especially in intermediate school. I'm still close with friends since the 1st grade.

Also, you wanna see if you have...pretty classmates. The ones you'll have puppy crushes on, that last like in a week. Then you can't stand them. Or they can't stand you.

1. NEW START
That's right! The first day of school is the most important, because you have a brand new start. It's almost like a brand new life.

As a dumb kid growing up - going to school, I knew I had no chance to have a good year. I just hoped I skid through. But in order to your head above water in school, if you're like me in school where your brain cells burn when it reads math problems, the one thing you need to do, is do all of your homework. From the first day of school and on, make sure you don't miss a homework. This way, if you fail tests or don't answer questions during class, the teacher can't fail you. Now I'm not saying failing your tests is okay, because you're doing all of your homework - no. But it's a security blanket. Don't miss a single homework.

Focus on your work this year. Get on a good start and on to a good rhythm. It's like a sports team -- you want the team to get off on the right and not sink into whole where it's too hard for them to make the playoffs toward the end of the year. That's like you. You wanna start September off on the right track, where everyday you're locked and ready to go and succeed.

Enjoy the first day of school; do your work, balance the crushes, balance the enemies and you'll be fine.
