Or, for Rajon Rondo... But that'll most likely not happen.
The Boston Celtics aren't going to trade Rondo to the New York Knicks anytime soon. Maybe in the off-season or next year. Although if the Knicks trade Iman Shumpert, the only players they should trade him for is Rondo (which might not happen) or to the Denver Nuggets for Kenneth Faried.
Even if Tyson Chandler was healthy and playing, Faried is a must for the Knicks. Reason why -- so that they can match up against the team who eliminated them in the playoffs last year. You know...the 9-1 Indiana Pacers?
It's obvious that the Pacers are the team to beat, this year. In order to beat them you have to match up with their front bodies. As ESPN's Stephen A. Smith would call the Pacer big men: "Big trees". Two of those "big trees", David West and Roy Hibbert, can't just be defended by one center. If the Knicks see Indiana in the playoffs again, Chandler is gonna need help in the paint.
Now, if you add Faried with Chandler to match against Indiana in that front, the Knicks can match very well against Indiana. They could even beat them in the playoffs. All the Knicks have to do is match Chandler with Hibbert, and Faried with West.
Faried's energy is needed in this lackluster 3-6 Knick team; especially in the paint.
If the Knicks acquired Faried, they'll add more size with Chandler and Andrea Bargnani. Not to forget Carmelo Anthony's height and speed.
The Knicks shouldn't just ask for Faried from Denver. I'd even inquire about their point-guard Ty Lawson, who I love. I've always said, that the Knicks lack speed at guard. You add Faried and Lawson, with Anthony, that is A LOT to handle from the opposing team. That'd be a a very well balanced team, if they could ever acquire Lawson, too, with Faried.
Shumpert only goes for a high quality player. Either you trade for some real help, or we ride and die with him.
