Knicks: Blake Griffin to New York City?

Like everyone else, when I heard this rumor last night about New York Knicks and Los Angeles  discussing a swap of Carmelo Anthony for Blake Griffin, I thought was just a...well...rumor. Nothing else. But hearing more about it this morning, it looks to have legs and it has been discussed from both teams.

And if the other rumors are right about Anthony planning to leave the Knicks to sign with the Clippers in the offseason, it's a definite no-brainer for the Knicks to do. At first, it didn't sound right from the Knicks side, but if he's really planning to leave NYC for L.A, then Griffin to New York should 100% be considered.

Though -- would the Clippers do it? Some say: yes. But then if you look at it, if Anthony is going to sign with the Clippers, Griffin is gonna have to leave. Because Anthony likes to play the four, which is power forward, the position Griffin plays. Anthony and Griffin cannot play on the same floor.

I'm worried if Anthony leaves, the Knicks won't have that superstar player; or for the sake of the Knicks organization, they won't have anyone to sell tickets off of. If Anthony leaves, who promotes the Knicks? What are you selling to New York fans? But, if you bring in Blake Griffin to Madison Square Garden, your problems are solved. Griffin sells, immensely; probably more than Anthony.

Do the Knicks get better with this trade? No. Absolutely not. Griffin is nowhere near the player Anthony is. Although the Knicks get younger and better for the future. You bring in Griffin, then sign Rajon Rondo and Kevin Love in 2015 and you have yourself a championship team.

I'm a 'now' fan. Always will be. That's what being a Yankee fan for eighteen years does. As for this trade, that's not, necessarily a 'now' trade, I would do it. Especially if Anthony is leaving for the Clippers.

I'd do this trade right now...
