Could Paul Pierce get Traded?

January 29, 2013

After yesterday's two-overtime, thrilling win against the Miami Heat, the Boston Celtics' night wasn't all that great when they found out their all-star PG Rajon Rondo will be out for the year, due to a torn ACL.

Rondo's injury hurt me, whose a New York Knick fan.

So with best player out for the season and won't be back to t'll next, after the all-star break (which is 2014), that may cause the Celtics front to unload on some contracts, or trade their star older players before the February 21th trade deadline.

Boston could be looking to gut out the team and rebuild.

And the one Celtic who can bring back a lot in a trade with tons of value; especially to a young team whose headed to the playoffs and needs a veteran: is Paul Pierce.

I don't think a team like the Knicks can trade for Pierce. He's what they need, but they don't have assets to trade and they're not trading a 22-year old Iman Shumpert for a 35-year old Pierce. Knicks don't want to get older.

Though, there are teams who would trade for Pierce and need that one missing link to their team. And like I said: young teams who need an experience, veteran player. Pierce is that guy.

The Celtic legend has a lot of pedigree. He's won a championship, he's a clutch shooter and he's played well against the the defending world champs, Miami Heat.

But they're only three teams that would fit perfectly for Pierce. Here they are.

Indiana Pacers: They may lose Danny Granger for the entire season. They could use a veteran, clutch player like Paul Pierce, in a young team like this.

I think with or without Granger, Pacers should be interested into trading for Pierce. They're the fifth seed and are behind the Nets, Bulls, Knicks and Heat; teams who already have star players. Pierce can help push them to that four or three seed.

Indiana could use Pierce's veteran leadership.

Brooklyn Nets: If the Celtics do have interest in trading Pierce, you best to sure Mikhail Prokhorov and Jay-Z will be the first line.

Nets could certainly use him. They need another scorer. With Pierce, they can be elite. Pierce would help them beat the New York Knicks, if they were to face them in the sem-finals. He's killed the Knicks many times.

Boston will love to trade with Brooklyn because of the young pieces Brooklyn has.

Brook Lopez, Deron Williams, Joe Johnson and Paul Pierce would be scary in the playoffs.

Chicago Bulls: This is the team who needs that missing link to be great. The Bulls are a great defensive team, but need that scorer; that guy who can be dangerous offensively, especially in a clutch moment.

Even with Derrick Rose returning soon, Chicago could use Pierce.

I always thought they lacked offense. They're defensively, but need offense. Bulls always needed that lethal shooter in the playoffs. Pierce could be that missing link to take them to the finals.
