In the beginning of the Katie Couric with Manti T'eo interview, it looked pretty bad for Te'o.
Couric (the hot milf that she is) was going after him with dagger questions, and Te'o, in my belief, was telling the truth, but was still holding back a lot. He answered the questions Katie gave him, but I guess he's so young he didn't know how to express himself in this kinda situation, which made him look like he was lying. Te'o was still a little embarrassed, it seemed.
People tend to forget that Manti is only 21-years old. In our mind, we see a grown man who looks to be in his late 20's. But he's not. Thats why he fell for all that stuff.
If it would've been a male in their mid-20's -- like me --, I would've said: 'Yea I believed in it, and I believed that'd she suck my dick one day.' But Manti is a young kid, whose a good kid.
What Saved Manti: His mom. Once his mother spoke and she began to cry, you began to see the true innocents in Manti.
His mother, Ottilia Te'o, began to describe how painful it was to see her son being called a liar. Then went on to say how Manti keeping it a secret from her and her husband (Manti's father) was just him being a true man and putting himself second for someone else; it's something Manti has always done his life.
When Ottilia said that, it was such a win. All of sudden it made Manti look like a great guy, that was horribly pranked. His mother brought everyone to believe, I thought.
Lesson From All This: It's okay to meet someone over the internet. But for crying out loud, use SKYPE! Or Oovoo. We're in 2013, folks. If you can't see her or him talking on your computer or laptop screen, don't believe in anything. I don't care how real you think the person is.
